Frequently asked questions

Short answers about how Peetako works.

Is Peetako free?
Yes. Peetako is free to play in any modern browser, on phone or computer.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no email. When your Peetako hatches you choose its Call Code (PTK- plus 6 to 8 letters or numbers, like PTK-TOKAY88) and a 6-digit PIN. The two together open your Peetako on any device.
I forgot my PIN. Can you recover it?
No. We only store a scrambled (hashed) version of the PIN, so nobody — including us — can read it back, and there is no email to reset it with. If a device is still signed in to your Peetako, open the menu and choose Change PIN (you need the current PIN, so write it down when you choose it). If you lose it everywhere, the pet will eventually fall from neglect. You can always hatch a new one.
Can someone guess my PIN?
We make it very hard. After 5 wrong PINs your Peetako is locked for 15 minutes, and after 20 wrong PINs in one day it is locked for 24 hours. Very easy PINs (like 000000 or 123456) are not allowed. Never share your PIN — only your Call Code.
Can I change my Call Code?
No. You choose it once, at hatch. Look-alike codes count as the same code (0 and O, and 1, I and L), so nobody can pretend to be you with a similar code.
What does "Remember this device" do?
It keeps a secure session cookie on this browser for 30 days, so you don't have to type your Call Code and PIN every visit. The PIN itself is never stored on your device. If you untick it, the session ends when you close the browser (or after 12 hours).
Can I install Peetako as an app?
Yes. On Android, or in Chrome or Edge on a computer, tap Install app at the bottom of the game page (or use your browser's own install option). On iPhone and iPad, open Peetako in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On iPhone and iPad the installed app keeps its own storage, so enter your Call Code and PIN once inside the app and tick "Remember this device". Caring for your pet still needs an internet connection.
Can Peetako remind me to care for my pet?
Yes. Tap the bell in the corner of your pet's scene and allow notifications. You will get an alert when your pet goes dormant, when about 12 hours of its survival window are left, a last-chance alert when about 3 hours are left, a reminder after 8 pm (Malaysia time) if your check-in streak is about to break, and a note when it reaches a new tier. You get at most 2 alerts a day, plus the last-chance alert if it is ever needed. Alerts are quiet from 22:00 to 08:00 on your device, except the last-chance alert. On iPhone and iPad, alerts only work after you add Peetako to your Home Screen and open it from there. Tap the bell again to turn alerts off.
How often do I need to visit?
Stats drop slowly over time. A young Peetako survives about two days without any care; older tiers survive longer (up to 14 days at Tier 8). Any care action resets the timer.
What happens when my pet is "Dormant"?
After 24 hours without care, your Peetako goes dormant and sleeps. It is still alive — care for it and it wakes up straight away.
What is hibernation?
A safety net. When the survival window runs out, your Peetako hibernates instead of falling, for up to 3 days in each calendar month (Malaysia time). Its stats stop dropping while it sleeps. Care for it and it wakes up; the days it slept (rounded up to whole days) are used from that month's 3. If the hibernation days run out too, it falls. Nothing needs to be switched on: it happens by itself.
What are the tiers?

What happens after Tier 8?
There is still no maximum lifespan: your Ageless Peetako can keep living as long as you care for it. After 30 days as Ageless (Day 90), its age stops counting for rankings and power, and you may choose Ascension: it retires to the Hall of Legends with a Legacy Score, made of the days it lived plus points for every day you cared for it. Ascension is optional and cannot be undone. Only an active Peetako (cared for in the last 24 hours) can ascend.
What is a Legacy Egg?
When a Peetako that lived 30 days or more falls, or when one ascends, its owner can claim one Legacy Egg. Sign in with the old Call Code and PIN, then choose a new Call Code, name, type and colour. The new Peetako starts at Tier 1, keeps half of the old coins plus a 200-coin bonus and every cosmetic, keeps the same country and uses the same PIN. Each Peetako leaves only one egg.
How do I know how my Peetako feels?
Watch its face and the symbol beside it. The four buttons also show a ! when the need they look after drops below 40. Floating hearts mean it is happy, a thought bubble means it is hungry, Z letters mean it is sleepy, a rain cloud means it is sad, and sparkles mean it is excited — usually right after you care for it. A small label under its name says the same in words.
Can I change how the game looks?
Yes. Tap the menu (☰) on your pet's screen. View switches between Immersive (the scene fills the whole screen, with the controls in a dock at the bottom) and Classic (everything inside a retro frame). On a computer, Classic is shown first and Immersive appears as a phone-sized frame in the middle of the window; on a phone, Immersive is shown first. Your choice is saved on this device only. Your Peetako's colour is chosen once, when you hatch it, from five palettes: Hijau Rimba, Tokay, Kenyalang, Pua Kumbu and Laut Borneo. It cannot be changed afterwards. Colours never change how your pet plays.
Does Peetako make sounds?
Yes. Sound is on by default and starts after your first tap; turn it off from the menu. The sounds are short and quiet, made by your browser, and inspired by instruments of Malaysian Borneo: reed chords after the sompoton when you care for your pet, a sape phrase at a new tier, an agung (gong) to open a battle and the gecko's own chik-chak when there is news. A lively sape music loop (a steady beat with a soft rhythm, still quiet) can be turned on from the menu (it is off at first); it pauses while you play a mini-game and comes back when the game ends. Your choices are saved on this device.
Why does the sky change?
The sky follows the clock on your device: dawn, day, dusk and night. It is only for looks — your pet's survival timer always runs on the server's clock, so changing your device time changes nothing in the game.
What is the Call Code?
Your Peetako's public name tag, like PTK-TOKAY88. It is safe to share: friends use it to visit, Pamper, send gifts and challenge your Peetako, and your pet's page at peetako.com/p/your-code shows it to anyone you send the link to.
How do I earn coins?
The first Feed, Clean, Warm (or Cool) and Play of each day pay 10 coins each (up to 30 a day). Tap CHECK-IN once a day for 10 more, and every 7th day in a row adds a 30-coin bonus. Each new tier pays 50 × the tier number. The mini-games pay coins too (up to 50 a day in total, shared by all five games), whatever your score. Inviting a friend pays 100 coins once their new Peetako has been cared for after its first day (they get 50 too). Up to 3 invites a day pay out, and an invite from the same network as the new Peetako does not count. Daily limits reset at midnight Malaysia time.
What can I buy?
Cosmetics inspired by Malaysian Borneo: a beaded headband and a bead necklace (100), a terendak hat and a pua sash (300), firefly wings and a parasol (800), and two extra backdrops — Kinabalu from Kundasang and the Rajang River (500). Robot Peetako get their own versions. Everything has a fixed price. There is no real money, no lucky draw and no loot box, and cosmetics never change how your pet plays.
Can I give gifts?
Yes. Visit a friend by Call Code and choose Gift. You pay the item's price and it goes straight to their Peetako (up to 5 gifts a day). Gifts cannot be sold.
What are Friends, Bond and Block?
In Friends, visit any Call Code and tap Save to friends to keep it in your list (up to 100). Every Pamper (+10), gift (+20), battle (+5) and Mentor Boost (+10) between two Peetako adds Bond points to the pair: Friends at 30, Buddies at 100 (unlocks a shared selfie you can save as a picture), Best Friends at 250 and Forever Friends at 500. Block stops a Peetako from Pampering, battling, gifting or mentoring yours; it is not told, and you can unblock it from your Friends list.
What is a Mentor Boost?
From Tier 4, an active Peetako can give a living Peetako of a lower tier a Mentor Boost: for 24 hours its needs drop 10% more slowly. A Peetako can receive one boost a day, and you can give 3 a day.
What are Pamper and battles?
Pamper gives both Peetako +5 FUN (3 times a day, once per pet). Battles are friendly: the result depends on stats, tier and a little luck, and nobody loses anything — your wins and losses are simply counted. You can battle 5 times a day; your Peetako must be active and hatched. Don't want to be challenged? Set Battles: closed in the menu.
Which mini-games are there?
Tap GAME to choose one of five. Coins from all of them share one limit of 50 a day.
  • Tangkap Kelip-kelip: tap fireflies in the night sky. 1 coin per 5 fireflies.
  • Ikut Rentak: the game plays a pattern on four pads (sompoton, sape, agung and chik-chak); repeat it. Each round adds a note, and two slips end the run. The pads light up too, so you can play with sound off. 1 coin per round.
  • Lidah Pantas: tap anywhere to flick your Peetako's tongue straight up and catch a bug as it crosses the middle. 3 misses or 60 seconds end the run; golden beetles are worth 5. 1 coin per 5 bugs.
  • Padan Motif: turn cards and match pairs of Borneo motifs on three boards. There is no clock. 10 points a pair, −2 for a wrong guess, +50 for each board cleared. 1 coin per 3 pairs.
  • Panjat Pokok: tap the left or right side to climb the tapang tree, keeping clear of branches on your side, before the timer bar runs out. 1 point and 1 metre per step; 1 coin per 20 metres.
Every game has its own daily and all-time leaderboards, and its own daily top 3, who earn a gold, silver or bronze badge after midnight (Malaysia time).
What is Tangkap Kelip-kelip?
Tap the fireflies to catch them. The run ends after 3 misses (a tap that catches nothing) or after 60 seconds. Catch several in a row for a combo (×2 from 5, ×3 from 10, ×4 from 20); a miss resets it. Golden fireflies are worth 5, and the fireflies get faster as the run goes on. Your best score of the day goes on the daily leaderboard (it resets at midnight Malaysia time) and your best ever on the all-time leaderboard. After midnight, the day's top 3 earn a gold, silver or bronze badge beside their name.
Why does the leaderboard show countries and flags?
You choose your Peetako's country once, when you hatch it (or choose “Prefer not to say” to stay on the global leaderboard only). The leaderboard has four views: Global, My country, Other country (pick any country) and Countries, which ranks countries against each other by the median of their players' best scores, so a big country does not win just by having more players. A country is listed once it has at least 3 players with a score. Each game has its own leaderboards; choose the game at the top. You can sort the pet lists by score, by oldest Peetako or by latest score. The country cannot be changed after you choose it. Countries follow the ISO 3166-1 list and nothing else.
Can I chat with other players?
No. Peetako has no chat — only preset actions — to keep it friendly. Peetako is for players aged 13 and over. The only words players write are pet names. They are checked against a list of rude words, and if you see one that is unkind, tap Report: it is hidden straight away until we review it.
Can I have more than one Peetako?
Yes. Each pet has its own Call Code and PIN. To limit spam, only a few pets can be hatched per network each day.
Who can play?
Players aged 13 and over. Peetako asks for no age, name or email, so please only hatch a Peetako if you are 13 or older. If we learn that a pet belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.
How do I delete my Peetako and my data?
Open the menu and choose Delete my Peetako. Enter your PIN and type DELETE. Your Peetako, coins, cosmetics, friends, Bond and scores are removed from our servers at once and cannot be restored. If you cannot sign in, email hello@peetako.com with the Call Code.
What happens if I stop playing for a long time?
A Peetako that has had no care and no check-in for 12 months is deleted automatically, with all its data. Before that, a Peetako that is not cared for goes dormant, hibernates for a few days a month and eventually falls, as explained above.
What is a Cuit?
A Cuit is a gentle poke to a saved friend who has not checked in yet today, so they keep their streak. You can send up to 5 a day, one per friend. Your Friends list shows who has checked in. A Cuit has no text and costs nothing. If you block a Peetako it can no longer Cuit you, and you can switch alerts off in your browser at any time.
Can I install Peetako on my phone?
Yes. Peetako is a web app that installs to your Home Screen. After you check in from your second day on, it offers to install (once, and once more a week later if you say no). On Android, tap Install. On iPhone or iPad, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen". You can also use the Install app link at the bottom of the home page.
